Yarrow Bay Grill and Beach Cafe's hands-on cooking classes are filling up fast! Please inquire about upcoming classes availability and learn how to prepare fabulous food from our award winning chef!

Our Instructor
Since 1991, award winning chef Vicky McCaffree has led her team at the Yarrow Bay Grill to top honors including Seattle Magazine Reader's Poll, WHERE Magazine's top restaurant awards, and stellar reviews in the Seattle Times. Vicky has twice been a featured chef at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City. Winner of the Columbia Crest Premier Chefs' Dinner Competition, a frequent guest chef of Holland America Cruise Line and at the Epcot Disney Food & Wine Fest, she brings an inimitable touch of sophistication and whimsy to the Grill menu. Vicky also heads the helm of the more casual Beach Cafe at the Point restaurant as well as Yarrow Bay Grill Catering, where her critically acclaimed cuisine can make any event a remarkable one.

Class Information
After each class, enjoy dining on the fruits of your labor accompanied by St. Michelle Estate wines. Classes are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Cooking classes are priced at $60 + $5.70 tax and handling fee. Dress casually and be prepared to learn and have fun!

FAVORITE SAUCES (PART II)
Saturday, February 2
Those who took Vicky McCaffree’s 2007 sauce class raved so much about it that she is following up with Part II, which will include curries. If this is your first sauce class, prepare to be dazzled as you learn how to create classic toppers that with an added twist, can turn even the simplest meal into a marvel.

 

CINCO DE MAYO MADNESS
Saturday, May 3
Vicky McCaffree has a Mexican fiesta menu that celebrates the classic cuisine of our Southern neighbors. Put together your own Cinco de Mayo party with the recipes you learn to make, such as mole, tamales, quesadillas, tortillas and salsa. Vicky also prides herself on making a top shelf Margarita cocktail and now, so will you!

 

FROM THE FIELD TO THE FABULOUS
Saturday, September 20
Vicky McCaffree loves shopping at Seattle’s many local farmers’ markets for her own home kitchen. In this class, join her in creating Italian inspired farm to table cooking using local late summer/fall farmer’s market produce. You will design and cook up a Mediterranean meal utilizing the flavors of the season and what produce is fresh from the field.

 

THE SWEET AND SAVORY OF IT ALL
Saturday, October 18
Chef Vicky McCaffree starts with an assortment of ingredients to show you the yin and yang (or as she refers to it, sweet and savory) recipes that can be created from them. Learn to make such varied dishes as a deeply flavorful and satisfying mole and a decadent chocolate orange ganache tart.

 

GINGERBREAD HOUSES: (Let Your Inner Architect Out!)
Saturday, December 8
Another annual favorite returns as Vicky McCaffree guides budding architects in making fabulous, lavish edible creations during this Gingerbread House extravaganza. She will provide every conceivable garnish. Create, decorate lavishly, and take them home to enjoy! (Suggested for ages 7 and up). Sign up early – this class is always a sell-out!
